Metro Art Presents KJazz Tracks at Union Station!

Three energetic performances will bring an unforgettable evening of live jazz music to the heart of Downtown Los Angeles during Jazz Appreciation Month on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 7:30-11pm in the Union Station Historic Ticket Concourse.

Grammy-nominated musician, emcee, singer, producer and drummer Kassa Overall will headline, with opening performances by multi-instrumentalist, composer and educator Isaiah Collier, and vocalist and performer Darynn Dean. KJazz DJ Rhonda Hamilton will host and serve as emcee.

Kassa Overall is a Grammy-nominated musician, emcee, singer, producer and drummer who melds avant-garde experimentation with hip-hop production techniques to tilt the nexus of jazz and rap in unmapped directions.

Born and raised on Chicago’s Southside, multi-instrumentalist Isaiah Collier has been surrounded by music his entire life. Collier's sound and approach is drawn from the influences of other master saxophonists such as John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Gene Ammons, as well as two of his mentors Roscoe Mitchell, and Ari Brown.

His most well-known work is with his group Isaiah Collier & The Chosen Few.

Darynn Dean is a dynamic vocalist, captivating performer, and composer. Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, she is no stranger to jazz.

With her unique voice and timeless style, Dean has garnered the attention of audiences across the country.

She strives to be the best and express herself both musically and socially. In her own words, “Right now, more than ever, we need music, love, and connection.” Taking a stand on and off stage, she is driven to reach all of her wildest dreams and become one of this generation’s musical greats.
