About this Event

Dr Lucy Blake is a Psychology Lecturer and author of ‘No family is perfect: A guide to embracing the messy reality’. She will speak about her book in terms of family estrangement and reflect on what she has learned from studying family relationships for two decades.

Lucy says she writes about “those lessons that have helped me develop a kinder voice in my head when I think about family. My hope in sharing what I have learnt is that it might bring a gentlenss to the way you think about family too.” (https://www.drlucyblake.com)

After Lucy’s talk we will break into smaller groups to explore the emotional impact of what she has presented in terms of our individual circumstances. These groups will be facilitated by a therapist who is experienced in worked with the issues of family estrangement.

This event is for anyone experiencing family estrangement. On booking please let us know which family member you are estranged from (e.g.parent, adult child, sibling, multiple) so we can assign you to the small group that is most appropriate for you.

Please let Stand Alone know in advance if you have any special needs in terms of access to the event.
