Now in its 44th year, with some musicians participating since inception, Messiah from Scratch brings orchestral musicians and singers together to support community organizations with a performance of selections from Handel’s Messiah. Messiah music scores are provided for a two-hour rehearsal and then performed for the public, “from scratch”. Musicians of all ages and talent are welcome to participate and the performance is open to the public.
Proceeds from this event are divided amongst community organizations. This year, Messiah from Scratch will be held on Friday, December 27th, 2024, at St. Andrew's United Church (Halifax).
We are pleased to welcome back Melissa Doiron to the podium, alongside our local talented vocal soloists. The rehearsal is at 1:00 p.m. and the performance at 3:30 p.m. The cost is $10 to participate or attend, with a $10 deposit for scores (refunded when returned).
Donations and canned food for Feed Nova Scotia are welcomed & encouraged!
