Living History on the Mesopotamia Commons

Civil War Reenactors, soldiers and civilians alike, will be participating in a first time educational event in the Mesopotamia Soldiers’ School of Instruction on April 24-25th, Mesopotamia, Ohio. Saturday’s activities will focus on military training for the soldiers with various drills and tactical training. Sunday 9 am - 12 pm the troops will have a tactical with marching in formation and on the battlefield.

In addition to Blue and Gray camps set up on the beautiful Commons of Mesopotamia Saturday will feature living historians demonstrating educational, first-hand historical tasks for example, wool being spun into yarn; cooking over a campfire; laundresses demonstrating essential services to doctors and soldiers; civil war medicine and herbs; how troops march in formation and battle on the field. A Civil War Ladies Tea will be held in the Mespo Town Hall 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Historical Presenters in designated buildings will be presenting special topics of interest on Saturday the 24th, such as President and Mrs. Jefferson Davis; Major Pauline Cushman, Spy of the Cumberland; History of the Flags; Naval Battle of the War; Daguerreotype; President Stanton, Secretary of War; President & Mrs. Lincoln, General Garfield
