Mesmerism is where hypnosis evolved out of, or as it was called in its time, Animal Magnetism.The Mesmeric art was a practice that used no words, simply passes of the hands, and an intense gaze. Initially, the magnetic passes of the hands over the body initially create a sympathic connection between the magnetiser and the subject. As time progresses, this develops into a deep trance state, where interesting change can occur.
