There is concern that the legal rights of LGBQTIA+ individuals will be under attack. There are concerns individuals may not be able to change their legal documents and not be able to marry their beloved.
Meriden Pride, Unitarian Universalist church in Meriden, Metropolitan Community of Hartford, CT PFLAG, the Health Collective, and NOT JUST US, and other organizations will be coming together to do the following things:
1) Provide legal information to help answer questions about changing of name/sex regarding original birth certificates
2) The organizations will provide information about resources which offer support to the LGBQTIA+ populations.
3) There will be ordained ministers and a justice of the peace present to officiate weddings. The purpose is to provide these resources to individuals who are concerned about the Néw administration in Washington may take away individuals’ legal rights to decide who they want to marry. There is no cost for these services.
The Metropolitan Community church has led these events across the state of Connecticut. The response has been very favorable from those who attended the events across the state.
We hope you will come join us in peace. You will see the beautiful spaces Meriden Pride and the. Unitarian Universalist church use to advocate for individuals of diversity.
If you have questions about the wedding resources please call Meriden Pride. Anyone who will utilize the services of the ministers/justice of the peace will need to inform Meriden Pride before the day of the event.
