Duet Behavior propõe uma noite intimista com a música de Meredith Monk. Através de uma abordagem de diálogo, os amigos e colaboradores de longa dse
ata, Monk e Hollenbeck, improvisam e expandem sobre peças de todo um catálogo que atravessa mais de 50 anos da carreira de Monk, combinando a pioneira magia vocal de Monk com a percussão inventiva e magistral de Hollenbeck, para gerar novos arranjos de composições icónicas de Monk.
O repertório inclui uma seleção de temas de Songs from the Hill (1975-1976), Light Songs (1988), Book of Days (1988), Cellular Songs (2017) e também novas composições.

Meredith Monk é reconhecida como uma das artistas mais singulares e influentes do nosso tempo. É pioneira naquilo a que hoje se chama “técnica vocal estendida” e “performance interdisciplinar”, e a sua obra integra música, performance, dança, cinema, ópera contemporânea, teatro musical e instalação.
Na sua discografia encontramos álbuns de referência como Key (1971) Our Lady of Late (1973), Songs from the Hill/Tablet (1979), Dolmen Music (1981), Turtle Dreams (1983), Book of Days (1990); Atlas: An Opera in Three Parts (1993), Mercy (2002), Impermanence (2008), Songs of Ascension (2011), On Behalf Of Nature (2016), a maioria com o selo da ECM New Series com quem grava desde 1981. A sua música também pode ser ouvida em filmes de realizadores como Terrence Malick, Jean-Luc Godard, David Byrne e os irmãos Coen.
O trabalho de Meredith Monk foi distinguido com numerosas distinções e prémios, entre os quais vários Obie e Bessie. Monk recebeu uma Medalha Nacional de Artes do Presidente Barack Obama e integra a Academia Americana de Artes e Letras.

Duet Behavior is an intimate evening of Meredith Monk’s music. Through a conversational approach, long-time friends and colleagues Monk and Hollenbeck expand and improvise on pieces from across Monk’s 50+ year catalogue, combining her pioneering vocal magic with his inventive and masterful percussion to generate new arrangements of Monk’s iconic compositions.
Repertoire includes: selections from Songs from the Hill (1975-1976), Light Songs (1988), Book of Days (1988), Cellular Songs (2017); new, and other works.

Meredith Monk is recognized as one of the most unique and influential artists of our time. She is a pioneer in what is now called “extended vocal technique” and “interdisciplinary performance” and her work includes music, performance, dance, cinema, contemporary opera, music-theatre and installation.
Her discography includes such landmark albums as Key (1971), Our Lady of Late (1973), Songs from the Hill/Tablet (1979), Dolmen Music (1981), Turtle Dreams (1983), Book of Days (1990); Atlas: An Opera in Three Parts (1993), Mercy (2002), Impermanence (2008), Songs of Ascension (2011), On Behalf Of Nature (2016), most of them under the ECM New Series label with which she has been recording since 1981. Her music can also be heard in films by such directors as Terrence Malick, Jean-Luc Godard, David Byrne, and the Coen Brothers.
Meredith Monk’s work has been distinguished with numerous honors and awards, namely several Obie and Bessie Awards. Monk received a National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama and is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
