A Poetry and Storytelling walk ..
Celebrating the undying spirit of Indian women and their unflinching resolve in the face of hardships Amrita Pritam's life stands as a constant reminder of the strength of femininity.
This walk covers her life and legacy in the bylanes of Hauz Khas a place where she dedicated 40 years of her life to her art. A truly remarkable icon of Punjabi Literature Amrita gave us countless works of art including her award winning poetry and short story collections. She strived for freedom- from social norms from gender driven challenges from the societal expectations of a divorced single mother and from countless hurdles that society time and again imposed on her and her art. So let's come together to remember the phoenix of Punjabi poetry whose life became a roadmap for young women to unapologetically reclaim their freedom.
As we go through themes of literary reform partition love and separation artistic recognition and independence we go back to the lanes that are filled with her memories and footprints which finally became the place where she breathed her last. Let this be a tribute to the lady that reminded us-
"When a man denies the power of women he is denying his own subconscious."
