JUST A FARMER is an award-winning, powerful and moving film that tells the story of farmers and explores the challenges and struggles experienced by them and their families. Focusing on the importance of mental health in rural communities, the film portrays the reality of grief, loss and resilience – allowing it to resonate deeply with audiences and have a lasting impact on communities around the world.
The film portrays a farming family grappling with loss and mental health. It has won numerous awards including BEST NARRATIVE FEATURE at the Iris Global Health Film Festival and the AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARD at the Saint-Tropez Antipodes Film Festival. Since its release, JUST A FARMER has not only captured the hearts of international audiences but has also sparked much-needed conversations about the mental health challenges in rural Australian communities.
As part of a larger movement to bring awareness to these issues, it is the perfect way to launch BUNBURY MENTAL HEALTH WEEK 2025.
ART EXHIBITION: There will be an Art Exhibition as part of Mental Health Week in our BREC Sky Bar from MONDAY 06 October – Friday 10 October 2025.
Mental Health Week brings awareness to mental health and wellbeing nationally and is scheduled around World Mental Health Day in October. Mental Health Week is a national celebration encouraging social connection.
This is an opportunity to highlight the important connection between social determinants of health and our mental health and to promote effective prevention strategies to keep people and our communities mentally healthy.
This important week aims to increase mental wellbeing in WA communities by:
Encouraging each of us to support and look out for one another.
Promoting mental health literacy – learning the ‘language’ of expressing feelings, good and bad; and continuing to raise awareness of mental health issues and reduce the stigma that can be associated with seeking help.
Join us for the LAUNCH EVENT here at BREC for 2025 and help us make positive change in our Community.
