Mental Health for Teens Workshop

Join elementary educator and meditation teacher, Jacquelyn Maitland for a night dedicated to teens navigating through mental health. With school back in session and new transitions on the horizon, anxiety and stress levels may be high. This workshop is designed for students ages 12-16.
It is not “new” news that depression, anxiety and stress amongst adolescents and teens has skyrocketed in the last year due to the pandemic as well as other factors (social media, friendships, family dynamics etc.)
9.7% of youth in the U.S. have severe major depression, compared to 9.2% in last year’s dataset. Emotional resilience, embodiment, self-regulation and finding your purpose are just a few of the topics we will touch in this workshop.
Jacquelyn will guide students in a heart-filled mindfulness meditation to get teens back to their innocent nature. Remembering what it was like to be “child-like” and care-free. From there we will do tactical breathing exercises as well as unpack current heavy emotions and how they feel in our bodies. We will give them space to be fully recognized, felt and eventually freed. Students will be able to journal and reflect on this experience to take what they have learned out into the world - living confidently and happy lives.
