The NSPCC report ‘, in Lockdown and Beyond’ which found that:-
*Increasing parental and family stress*Reductions in protective services*Intensification of pressures on children’s emotional wellbeing caused by lockdown can increase the risk of abuse and neglect.
In December 2020 nine months after the first lockdown the BBC reported that due to Covid-19 Child abuse cases were up by nearly 80%.
Teachers Surveyed Reported
* 85% suffered from a loss of sleep* 23% Increased their use of Alcohol
* 14% Started using or Increased their use of Anti-Depressants* With 3% using Self-Harm as a way to cope.

This course is the Classroom version of the 2 day Youth Mental Health First Aid England course. On completion participants will be certified Youth Mental Health First Aiders.
The course will be led by experienced facilitators with over 15 years of working with youths & communities, Mental Health, Well-Being and training delivery. Giving you:
*An in-depth understanding of young people’s mental health and factors that affect wellbeing
*Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues *Confidence to reassure and support a young person in distress
*Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
*Knowledge to help a young person recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s through self-help sites, their place of learning, the NHS, or a mix – engaging with parents, carers and external agencies where appropriate
*Ability to support a young person with a long term mental health issue or disability to thrive*Tools to look after your own mental wellbeing
The course will be made up of 2 days of practical classroom sessions, along with some independent study. (Breaks will be facilitated throughout the training)
Covering topics such as: Suicide, Psychosis, Self-Harm and recovery.
Participants must attend all sessions to receive their completion certificate.
Day 1 - 17th July 2023 - 9am - 17:00pm
Day 2 - 18th July 2023 - 9am- 17:00pm
*All MHFA resources and materials will be sent out to you prior to the start of the course.
