With a stellar career spanning two decades as the leader of Hollerado and 1/4 of supergroup Anyway Gang, Menno Versteeg is by no means a stranger to the stage and the airwaves. With literally thousands of shows in over twenty countries, ten Top 10 singles, one Gold Record and one #1 Alternative Single, Versteeg has seen and done his fair share, but Why We Run marks the first time he's releasing music under his own. Over the course of Why We Run's 12 songs, Versteeg is at his lyrical best and most musically diverse. With the soft indie folk of debut single "Fish Out Of Water" featuring Doug Paisley, the alt-country rambunctiousness of "Change A Tire" or the contemplative album closer "A Light On In You", Versteeg channels his wide musical knowledge and pulls from every corner of his impressive career. The result is a record that is an artist at his most honest, most vulnerable and most exciting, 20 years in.
Janky Bungag is sweet and spicy wrapped into a bluegrass pickin’, good timin’ man. Janky takes the every day ins and outs of living in a city and transforms them into a song that each person can relate to. From love to lust, heart break to smoke break, he touches on all the emotions with a laid back lighthearted energy. Janky started putting songs together in 2020 during the pandemic under the pseudonym ‘J.B Drinkin’ in which he would touch on topics of loneliness and longing. Only a year later Bungag would have a full band put together under his full name. With every strum you’ll hear a little bit of bluegrass. With every note you can catch a little bit of country. In every song you get a cocktail of all of Janky’s musical inspirations. Merle Haggard, David Allen Coe, and Willie Nelson to name a few. Janky is an escape from the norm of what people think country music is. Some say it’s got shades of punk influence. But if you can’t put your finger on how to describe this music, you can at least call it a good time.
