Mending Broken Hearts is geared towards those with Native American ancestry and incorporates Native American culture and ceremony into the course study; however, all people and cultures have experienced trauma, grief & loss therefore it is beneficial for any individual seeking self-awareness, individual and/or ancestral healing and bringing balance to unhealthy addictive or compulsive behavior, and patterns that are blockages for living our best life.
OBJECTIVES:*
Explore normal reactions to loss.
Define the impact of unresolved grief.
Examine the way our belief system shapes our grieving process
Identify the characteristics of grief
Identify what to do and what not to do with someone that is grieving.
Recognize and remove grief masks (addictions/ unhealthybehaviors) Examine the Natural Order for healing from unresolved grief.
Create an action plan for completing incomplete relationships and healing from grief & loss.
Identify cultural traditions & practices that can enhance the healing process.
Describe the links between unresolved grief and intergenerational trauma which in turn is related to unhealthy, disempowering, thoughts/behaviors Explore how trauma ( ours & others) effects our communication skills and how we can communicate more effectively despite the trauma that has been experienced.
This is an INTENSIVE retreat for self-awareness and healing in a safe, sacred space of trust. Therefore, there will be INTENSIVE GUIDELINES. If you commit to attend, you will need to plan on staying for the duration of the retreat and not break sacred space- The only coming and going will be for those who choose not to tent camp on the property- and that will be in the morning before group events are scheduled to start & in the evening when the group events have come to a close for that evening. You will be expected to be back by 8:00am the next day. NO EXCEPTIONS
Designated spaces on the property will be staked for tent camping. There will be no individual fires/stoves on the property therefore Community Meals will be provided. You will need to bring your own snacks, drinks and any special dietary needs you have. You may want to bring a cooler.
