This is short notice I know, but this is something that I have thought about for a few years but never spoken out until now.
I would like to hold a walk in memory of Ben in the hope that it will become an annual event on the 27th December.
It would be great if you could all bring an old lamp, head torch or hand torch to show that there is always light in the darkness.
We all have a memory of Ben taking us on random walks, normally at night when he got board, from abandoned buildings, to local parks where he would inevitably act a clown on the equipment or on a walk to look for a boat that doesn't exist ��.
The plan is to meet at skinners brewery and walk from there up the Newham trail (old railway tracks for locals) to new county hall and down station hill back through town to skinners this route is around 4 miles and take approximately 1.5 hours
Given the mixed ability and likelihood of small children attending, I have planned a short walk for those that may not want to walk the 4 mile route. Those can leave skinners after the first walkers have left,
You can walk from skinners into town to victoria square which is 0.6 miles and wait and meet up with the other walkers where the whole group will then head back to skinners brewery this will take approximately 20 mins
If we can meet at skinners brewery on the 27th December before we set off at 1830 please allow yourself enough time to have a drink if you would like one before departing on the walks bring a form of light so that we can give the message of "there's light in the darkness"
Please wear appropriate shoes and clothing as I plan to still carry on with the walks regardless of the weather.
Alternatively if wish to attend but feel that you wouldn't like to partake in either walks skinners is an open bar and I'm sure they will be happy for you to remain there until our return.
This event is open to all and no one is excluded
