Work-in-Progress Showing: Memory Rush! by Chantal Vorobei Theives
Part of the PAPA Mini Residency with Asian Arts Initiative and Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival
June 18, 7:30 PM EST
Memory Rush! is a special screening of the classic film every single human alive in the 90’s has seen twice: Rush Hour! What makes this screening special? It’s a part of PAPA’s mini-resident Chantal Vorobei Thieves’ ongoing project, Memory, Vein: The Collected Tapes, where personal memories are shared in connection to specific scenes from various films in often surprising ways. Chantal will be inviting you, the audience, to narrate your personal memories over the action while the showing occurs! Think of this as an experience somewhere between Mystery Science Theater 3000 and those director’s commentary tracks from back when we struggled to find the special features on those things called DVDs (remember those?).
Bring your own chairs, blankets, masks and refreshments, and prepare to come with a small pod to share a mic during the duration of the screening (think of it as a drive-in without the car, but not a sit-in, that’s something else!). Hope to see you there!
