Memory & Meaning in the Rural Black Church

Since Emancipation, African American churches have served as vibrant spaces where faith, music, art, education, mutual support, and community have thrived. Join us as we celebrate the powerful legacy of rural Black churches in the South through a program featuring two speakers: the Reverend Dr. Avis Williams and Bob Reid, nephew of a pastor of Plainview Baptist Church, where many members of Morgan County's artistic Andrews family worshipped. The speakers will be followed by musical selections from a group led by Professor Emorja Roberson of Emory’s Oxford College.
Reception to follow in the MMCC Arts & Crafts Gallery.
