Join Brigette Watkinson for a hands-on, fun and playful workshop where you’ll create your very own concertina book-in-a-box.
Your book will tell your story and memories of Humberston Fitties past & present
A quirky, fold-out art piece that’s part sculpture, part story
and entirely yours.
Whether you’re drawn to collage, journaling, memory-keeping, or
simply fancy trying something new, this session offers a joyful introduction to book arts.
What we’ll do:
Learn how to fold and construct a concertina (accordion) book from scratch
Explore playful ways to decorate, layer, and personalise your pages
Create a bespoke box to house your book—perfect for gifting or keeping
Experiment with collage, layering, and visual storytelling techniques
What to bring:
All materials will be provided, but you’re warmly encouraged to bring:
Personal photos (or photocopies you’re happy to cut up)
Ephemera such as postcards, fabric scraps, handwritten notes or
any small flat items that hold meaning or spark joy
Atmosphere:
This is a friendly, informal and welcoming space. You’ll be gently guided through
each step, with plenty of room to experiment, ask questions, and make it your own.
No prior experience needed—just curiosity and a willingness to play.
