About this Event
Join us for an exciting afternoon of art and community, and yes we know it's a Holiday but we figured what better time than when families are together to invite them to the opening of the "Memories of Dreams Fulfilled Exhibition". If you choose to bring your youth with you we will have a treat bag and avtivity for them to engage in.
The Curator,Monique Stubbs, is known for her work in Charlotte, NC as Executive Director of the Brooklyn Collective historical project, where she managed the art gallery. She was instrumental in bringing programming that fused heritage, community, and the arts together. Through unique experiences she brought cultures together in a space where all could feel at home.
When charged to bring this same vibe to the heart of Gastonia by Christian Jacobs Salon Suites into their gallery, it was a resounding YES for her. She saw it as another opportunity to fuse heritage, culture and artistry with community.
After months of work we are excited to open the doors to Gastonia & surrounding areas, first as we share the excitement of our vision. Even more exciting for Monique was the fact that her featured artist, Juan Logan, also has a heart for Gastonia as he is even a resident of Gaston County. Like Monique and Juan, Derrick "Fly-Ty" & Jacinda Jacobs share the same love for exposing community, including our youth, to the fine arts. We all know that this will be the beginning of using artistry to forge the way for cultural experiences in the new "Gastonia Reimagined" plan for the city.

About Our Featured Artist, Juan Logan
Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Juan Logan now lives and works in Belmont, North Carolina. Logan’s artworks address subjects relevant to the American experience. At once abstract and representational, his paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, and videos address the interconnections of race, place, and power. They make visible how hierarchical relations and social stereotypes shape individuals, institutions, and the material and mental landscapes of contemporary life.
He has shown extensively nationally and internationally, has had numerous solo exhibitions, and executed many private and public commissions. Logan’s works can be found in private, corporate, and public collections, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Gibbes Museum of Art, the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Memphis Brooks Museum, the Zimmerli Museum of Art, the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.
