Afternoon all, Many of you will know that long time stalwart of the club, Eddie Drew, lost his 13-year-old daughter, Poppy in March 2024.
Poppy was a loving, caring and talented daughter to Eddie and Sam, sister to Charlie, niece, goddaughter to Mick W and Neill D and friend, who lived life very much on her own terms.
1 in 5 young people in the UK now have mental health issues (Mind UK) and suicide rates in 10–14-year-olds have doubled in the last 5 years (ONS statistics). Many of you may be in some way, directly or indirectly affected.
Poppy was well known at the club as a youngster and as a club we want to remember her life, her spirit and how she always looked out for people by raising money for Off The Record Twickenham, so other youngsters can get the support and counselling they need.
With this in mind we will be hosting a Vets match (although anyone is welcome to put their name down to play) on Saturday 8th February with a kick off time of 11/12. We are in talks with Barnes and London Welsh and will confirm the final details asap.
The aim of the day is to raise money to prevent and help others whilst celebrating wonderful Poppy. We will be asking players to make a charity donation as well as having other fundraising activities on the day.
If you have any questions then please reach out to Mick, myself, Chris Roberts, Gilly or Lou Latter directly.
