Join us for our 2nd annual Memorial Day MURPH Challenge at Fitness Plus! The Murph Challenge is a grueling test of physical and mental endurance that honors the sacrifice and service of fallen Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy. The workout consists of a one-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 body squats, and another one-mile run. The 1 mile runs can be performed inside around the gym track (8 loops = 1 mile) or there is a great 1 mile loop outdoors completely around the hospital campus.Don't be scared of this workout, anyone can participate! Modifications will be available for a 1/2 Murph, 1/4 Murph or the full Murph with a non-pull-up option. And 1 optional weighted vest will be available.
Members - please register with the front desk ahead of time so that we know how many participants to expect and plan for staffing.
Non-members, please check in at the front desk and then we'll meet upstairs in the Performance Plus room for instructions and then the workout will be completed at your own pace. Water and restrooms are available. And bonus, this workout is open and free to members and $8 guest pass can be purchased for non-members!
Outdoor 1 mile loop: begin at Fitness Plus parking lot Mt. Auburn entrance and turn left running towards William st. Following the sidewalk, turn left onto William st and run up towards Chic-fil-a and follow the sidewalk around to the hospital fountain front entrance, turn right and cross the intersection (towards Logan's Roadhouse) and then make a left at the Silver Springs roundabout. Run down the hill and turn into the Women & Children's hospital entrance, then continue straight all the way to Mt. Auburn rd. Turn left again onto Mt. Auburn and finish at the gym entrance.
