About this Event
Come join us for a 1.5-mile moonlit stroll along the CREW Marsh Trails. We’ll head out along the Green Trail to the observation tower to enjoy the stunning sights as the Wolf Moon rises above CREW’s 5,000-acre sawgrass marsh. Along the way, we may spot owls. whippoorwills and bats and maybe even be treated to a nighttime chorus of frogs.
The indigenous peoples of North America referred to this final moon of winter as the “worm moon” because the illumination it casts helps make the telltale trails of earthworms visible in the newly thawing soil. We can’t promise you’ll see any worm tracks, but you may see or hear owls, whippoorwills, cricket frogs, bats, and more as we walk together to CREW Marsh Trails’ observation tower to observe the moon rise over CREW’s 5,000-acre sawgrass marsh.
The hike starts promptly at 7:15 PM, shortly after the sun has set. To allow our eyes to adjust to the darkness, please leave your phone in your pocket and only use the provided red flashlights to reduce light pollution.
This is a members-only event.
