For Melty Micro - September - we are answering another common question - how can I possibly micro when higher energy/more intense songs play? Aren't I called to do bigger movements? Not necessarily!
This month will focus on learning how to adapt micro to these types of songs, and then feature a social that balances them with traditional micro slower/darker sounds.
And onto the usual details, about micro!
While there is no official basic step for micro, dancers often rely on synced breath, tiny weight shifts, body isolations, and changing energy levels to further embody the music.
For our friends who haven't been to a micro event - if you've been to a late-night zouk, blues, kizomba, or similar event, you'll feel right at home! Or if you're a new (or non!) dancer who loves connection, music, community, we'll take good care of you too.
We aim to keep the cost as low as possible for this event, but if you have financial concerns please reach out. This is meant to be a space for every body.

FAQ:
Anything I should be aware of about the space?
Please be respectful of the space! Most importantly, please do not touch the mirrors, and do protect the floor by wearing flats or wide heels. No spiked heels!
Food/drink?
There is a small lobby where you can eat food you've brought. Please no food or drink besides water in the studio. Water will be available for refilling water bottles (no water bottles will be provided, please bring your own!).
Hygiene?
Micro is usually danced quite closely; please be mindful of your partners and the community by both practicing good hygiene and avoiding strong smelling chemicals.
Parking?
We recommend parking on Robertson if available. Though if you need to park on a side street, we are happy to help you find someone to walk you back to your car! If you do park on a side street, please be mindful of noise as the studio is in a quiet neighborhood. Finally, if you generally feel safe walking in LA, please consider leaving closer spots available for those who do not.

As a member of Safer Dances Spaces (SDS) https://www.facebook.com/saferdancespaces, we are committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all our dancers. As such, all attendees will be required to read and accept the SDS Zero Tolerance Policy.
