Small note! As a couple folks have pointed out, the address shows up as both the Olin one, and as this one: 2739 S Robertson Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90034. They both take you to the same building. The entrance is on Robertson though!Ok ok, you asked, we are coming back!
Melty Micro has a new home: LA AcroDancers! The studio is owned by a lovely woman who has been incredibly supportive of all things dance/partner dance, and we are so grateful that she is welcoming Micro next!
Micro, often short for microfusion, is a style of partner dance that focuses on using "micro" movements and a strong connection with our partner to allow ourselves to melt deeply into the music. While there is no official basic step for micro, dancers often rely on synced breath, tiny weight shifts, body isolations, and changing energy levels to further embody the music.
For our friends who haven't been to a micro event - if you've been to a late-night zouk, blues, kizomba, or similar event, you'll feel right at home!
This is a micro-only event, so leave your grand movements at home, and bring your grand musicality, isolations, and artistic spirit!
Schedule:
8:00 PM - 9:00 PM: Micro-focused Class: Breath Dancing
Inspired by the rhythmic breathing from breathwork classes, this workshop will focus on using breath as the basis for micro dancing. We will learn how to synchronize breath with our partner, move into leading and following a variety of different breaths, and then move into learning how breath can enhance a variety of movements.
Class guest artist Coco will be providing the yogic perspective! She is 200 hour yoga certified teacher, and has been an avid practioner for 15 years. She also dances zouk and teaches acro yoga.
9:00 PM - 12:00 AM: DJed Micro social featuring DJ Ember! She's an LA local, but a regular DJ across the CA fusion scene. She describes her style as jazzy, bluesy, psychedelic and eclectic.
Cost: $10 if you pre-register via the ticket link or join the class by 8:15 PM.

FAQ:
Anything I should be aware of about the space?
Please be respectful of the space! Most importantly, please do not touch the mirrors, and do protect the floor by wearing flats or wide heels. No spiked heels!
Food/drink?
There is a small lobby where you can eat food you've brought. Please no food or drink besides water in the studio. Water will be available for refilling water bottles (no water bottles will be provided, please bring your own!).
Parking?
We recommend parking on Robertson if available. Though if you need to park on a side street, we are happy to help you find someone to walk you back to your car! If you do park on a side street, please be mindful of noise as the studio is in a quiet neighborhood. Finally, if you generally feel safe walking in LA, please consider leaving closer spots available for those who do not.
