About this Event

MeLSA training delivered by Stockport Educational Psychology Service

The Stockport Educational Psychology Service is excited to invite staff members currently employed by schools or educational settings in Stockport (e.g. Teaching Assistants, Pastoral Support Staff, Teachers and SENCos) to join our Mediating Learning Support Assistant (MeLSA) course.

This MeLSA programme, delivered by an Educational Psychologist (EP), aims to equip teaching assistants (or teachers) with the skills and resources needed to plan and deliver bespoke programmes of work to individuals and small groups to develop their learning.

As well as being rooted in evidence and research, training is delivered in an accessible and interactive manner where school staff will work with one another, ask questions, and reflect on their own practice to ensure they are confident in applying their training when in school. This is further supported by ongoing supervision facilitated by an Educational Psychologist.

What makes our MeLSA course unique?

  • Delivered by accredited MeLSA training providers.
  • Our facilitators are qualified Educational Psychologists who have been trained by the developers of the MeLSA programme in Bristol.
  • Training content is informed by the latest research and evidence.
  • Course delivery is designed based on the psychology of learning, to facilitate the optimal learning experience for staff so they can best apply MeLSA training in school.
  • MeLSA is a a newly developed intervention - watch this video to learn about its development.

Please note: Managers of MeLSA’s are required to attend a 45 minute online manager session (on the 22.01.25 at either 10am or 2pm) accompanied by their MeLSA prior to the MeLSA beginning their course.
