We are raising funds for Mel King, a 28-year-old former Zumba instructor from Dunedin.Last September, Mel traveled to Germany for life-saving surgery. Unfortunately, due to her underlying condition, Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, she has since developed further complications, including May-Thurner syndrome, neurogenic MALS, and other related issues.
While the surgery in Germany wasn’t unsuccessful, these new complications mean Mel now requires additional surgeries overseas. She recently returned from Spain after another procedure and is currently recovering.
Mel’s health has deteriorated significantly. She is down to just 39kg, can barely eat, and is battling severe malnutrition alongside debilitating symptoms. Once an energetic fitness instructor and Zumba leader, Mel is now struggling to live a normal life and is unable to work.
