MELISSA SEVERN
Melissa Severn is a lyrically virtuosic, alt-pop artist acclaimed by The Darkness' Justin Hawkins and John Mayer's Tim Bradshaw. Booked by Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and Shropshire promoters, Melissa is a seasoned and scathing performer, winning T-Live's Battle of the Bands in 2016. Her single "Ophelia" - released December 2023 - was produced by Chris Warren of Dirty Hit's SIPHO. "Ophelia" was showcased to a sold-out Glee Club by Justin Hawkins (March 2024, Justin Hawkins Rides Again Tour). He lauded Melissa as "f*cking astounding". She subsequently self-produced and released her scintillating EP - I HUNG THE GAS GIANTS - in May 2024, a homage to gritty and glittering DIY music; the EP earned itself airplay on Brum Radio twice. Melissa is a nominee for Best Solo at the upcoming Shropshire Music Awards. In her teens, she was aired consecutively on BBC Introducing more times than Florence + The Machine. She is a luminous ley-line between Bob Dylan and Stevie Nicks and, after a break due to personal issues that have only made her stronger, she is back on the West Midlands scene with a cosmic bang.
