MELINDA SCHNEIDER BRINGS EMPOWERMENT TO THE TAMWORTH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVALMelinda Schneider, six-time Golden Guitar Award winner, is celebrated for her authentic storytelling and spine-tingling voice. With a career spanning over four decades, she has cemented her place as one of Australia's most beloved country music artists.
Melinda will perform a carefully curated selection of her own most powerful songs, including ‘Courageous’, a duet she recorded with the late Olivia Newton-John, ‘Be Gentle on Yourself’, which Melinda released to help empower others suffering from depression and her most requested song ‘The Story of My Life’ and many more.
Melinda will perform her own chart-topping tracks whilst also a selection of hits that celebrate resilience, strength, and empowerment. Fans can expect to hear classics from legendary artists like Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline, Helen Reddy, Olivia Newton-John, artists who have uplifted and empowered music fans for generations.
“There are songs about motherhood, songs about abusive situations which a lot of women have survived, and songs about finding a good man and finding yourself” she says which are to be included on her upcoming album, which is set to be called Tender and released next year.
A few years ago, when Melinda Schneider sat down to write songs for a new album, she knew this time was different. It wasn’t because these songs would go on to be featured on her first original album in a decade or that she’d spent two years away from music when she had her son, Sullivan. It was knowing that, for the first time in 10 years, she was writing from a place of empowerment—as a new mum, with a new love in her life, and as a new woman.
“If I can help empower even one person through my music to find that voice and use it, then that will make me so happy,” Schneider adds.
In 2020, Melinda started her own record label, titled ‘MPOWER’ in a bid to give Melinda the freedom to do things her way, a new way. “I’ve been taking back control over many facets of my music career in recent years and I’ve been enjoying more freedom and success than ever,” says Melinda. “As my parents always told me as a kid, ‘back yourself’, it was good advice then and its good advice now."
