Join Melinda Adams (Mel for short) and Guitarist Jon Fox at Marie's Wine Bar in Downtown Waco on August 17th!Melinda originally started out on the classical side of music down in Northwest Houston. She began playing the flute when she was just 11 years old, and later attended Baylor University on Music Scholarships where she received a Bachelor of Music Education degree. She played and sang in a couple church praise bands throughout that time, as well as taught music lessons in the evenings. She eventually started branching out more on the Commercial side and singing around town with some local Country Bands. During that time she picked up bass guitar and started playing with the Sul Ross Band, where they had the pleasure of opening for artists such as No Justice, Kyle Park, and Cody Johnson Band.
Eventually Melinda decided to put down the bass guitar and pursue singing lead full time. She formed the Station Creek Band which went on to open for larger name artists such as Jonny Burke, Adam Hood, Bri Bagwell, and Roger Creager. Station Creek has played many different stages in Central Texas including the 4th of July Brazos Nights stage and the Heart O' Texas Fair & Rodeo Stage.
In 2018 Melinda switched gears and began focusing more on her songwriting as a solo artist. She calls it "still finding herself" and will tell you that "it's a constant work in progress." Since then she has had the opportunity to open for Adam Hood, Scooter Brown Band, and Ted Nugent. In the Summer of 2019 she did a 2 and a half week tour through France with a Trio playing in various venues throughout 7 different Cities.
Melinda's influences include Aretha Franklin, Linda Ronstadt, Wynonna Judd, and many more. She has a love for music that outweighs just about anything else, and she does her best to portray that when singing. She doesn't want to fit into one box or one genre. "We can all be more than one thing."
