Baroque and modern treasures in an explosion of colour and energy.
Harpsichordist, Donald Nicolson brings an infectious enthusiasm and a sparkling musicality to everything he does. This program sees him take centre stage, both as guest director from the keyboard and as the soloist for Bach’s stunning concerto.
This is a wonderful opportunity to experience a range of MCO players and instruments up close.
MCO’s own Emma Sullivan features in one of the most famous double bass sonatas from the Baroque period, and the violin section comes to the fore in Corelli’s Concerto Grosso.
Other members of the violin section will also be showcased in Corelli’s dynamic Concerto Grosso.
The more modern works featured here include a hidden gem written by Colin Brumby and a new collaboration with exciting Melbourne composer, Melody Eötvös.
Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes, without interval
Artist recommended age: All ages
