Title: Mel Elston-Mendones: Art that moves
Fiesta time!
“Colonnade House is a friendly space where I share my art and connect. It’s a place where I feel welcome to express, explore and be creative. Exhibiting at Colonnade House feels like coming home.”
Would you like to experience art that moves?
In Mel’s previous exhibition at Colonnade House, Mel showcased his art based on identity and liminality. It covered subjects that were reflective and universal at the same time. The main piece was Fiesta, a piece that is about celebrating equality, diversity and inclusion: embrace it, cherish it, be part of it. Fiesta returns and invites you to continue to celebrate life’s richness.
This time, Mel also invites you to experience a retrospective that spans two decades of art, from Mel’s earlier explorations to his most current works. Collectively, Art that moves.
Mel Elston-Mendones embraces layers—cultural, creative, and personal—woven into a single, vibrant tapestry. The art springs from a place of deep multiplicity: multi-identified, multi-cultural, multi-diverse. Beyond simply drawing inspiration from different places or experiences; it’s about inhabiting many worlds at once. Mel’s lived experiences cross communities, languages and traditions, and each creative expression reflects a harmony of contrasting influences.
In Mel’s work, identity is a dialogue rather than a label—a fluid conversation between heritage and present, self and society, local and global. The result? Art that refuses easy categorisation; art that is as multifaceted as life itself. To be “multi” is to recognise that a single story never tells the whole truth. Mel invites you to question boundaries, celebrate intersections, and discover diversity, where worlds meet.
Mel is developing open discussions on subjects that inform and inspire the art to be presented at the exhibition.
Buy and take home art that inspires reflection, sparks conversation, and connects you to universal themes and community. Pieces are available for purchase at the exhibition.
Time to join the party!
