Join the Mehrgan Celebration – A Persian Cultural Gathering
Iranians of Utah warmly invites you to celebrate Mehrgan, one of the most cherished Persian festivals that honors love, friendship, and gratitude. Traditionally celebrated in ancient Persia, Mehrgan marks the season of harvest and abundance and is a time to give thanks, strengthen bonds, and celebrate the beauty of life.
This special evening brings together our community to share in the rich traditions, music, and flavors of Persian culture. The celebration will feature welcome remarks and the national song “Ey Iran” performed by our choir, followed by a speech highlighting the cultural and historical significance of Mehrgan. Guests will enjoy traditional music by Aria, special recognitions and gift presentations, and a delightful selection of Persian fruits, nuts, and sweets. The night will continue with DJ music, dancing, and an open program, ensuring a joyful and memorable experience for all.
This free community event is open to everyone, but seating is limited to 230 guests, so be sure to arrive early. Bring your family and friends and join us for a night of celebration, connection, and Persian heritage.

About Mehrgan
Mehrgan is an ancient Persian festival that has been celebrated for thousands of years. Traditionally, it honors Mehr (or Mithra), the Zoroastrian deity associated with love, friendship, loyalty, and the sun.
Mehrgan is celebrated in autumn, typically around the time of the harvest, as a festival of gratitude, abundance, and community. Historically, it was a time for:
Giving thanks for the harvest and the blessings of life

Strengthening bonds between family, friends, and neighbors

Celebrating love and friendship through gatherings, music, and feasts

Cultural rituals like setting a festive table with seasonal fruits, nuts, and sweets

Like Nowruz (the Persian New Year in spring), Mehrgan is a cultural and spiritual celebration, but it focuses on the themes of harvest, gratitude, and the warmth of human connection rather than renewal and beginnings.
