About this Event
Informational meeting for veterans who are interested in receiving a rescue dog. Veteran Companion Animal Services (VCAS) is a non-profit which gives rescue dogs to veterans for companionship. VCAS covers the expenses of the dog, placement supplies, the first year of food and veterinary care, and seven weeks of basic training. Veterans are often matched with a dog within 2-4 months. This meeting fulfills the in person meeting requirement. The meeting is being held at the Delaware Entrepreneurial Center next to Ohio Wesleyan University's Art Museum. Parking is available at the meters right outside the building (free on weekends) and in the Delaware Public Parking Lot on Spring St . Placement Supplies
Veterans receive placement supplies which include a crate, bowls, toys, grooming items, etc.
Dog Training
Veteran/dog teams receive 7 weeks of basic dog training.
Veterinary Care
Veterans receive one year of veterinary care for their dog, including flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
Alumni Events
VCAS holds quarterly Alumni Events for those who have participated in our program. Past events have been trips to Motts Military Museum, Zoo Lights, Columbus Sporting Events, and Family Picnics at MetroParks.
