Founded by Tom and Beverly Porter, the vineyard is known for producing outstanding Bordeaux varietals, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot, as well as a signature Syrah.
The story of Porter Family Vineyards is quite fascinating. Tom Porter, an electrical engineer, dreamed of owning a vineyard and making his own wine. After purchasing a 20-acre parcel of land in Coombsville in 2005, he built a 17,000-square-foot underground cellar in the hillside, where fossilized sandpiper footprints were discovered. These footprints date back millions of years and have become a symbol of the vineyard's connection to the ancient history of the land.
The Porters are dedicated to stewarding the property for future generations and have a strong commitment to philanthropy. They donate 100% of the proceeds from their Amani red blend to the Amani Children's Home in Tanzania and support HeartWorks Inc., an organization dedicated to curing congenital heart defects.
