About this Event

Haux Haux!

It is with great joy and excitement that we invite you to join the Huni Kuin female leaders from the heart of the Amazon, Samia Biruany, Yaka Banu and Samara Huni Kuī for an evening of deep healing with the Hãpaya Baptism, the consecration of the medicine of hapé, and an evening of prayer through their sacred songs. We have 2 separate events, so you may join both or just come to the second half (Hapé and Singing Circle).

HÃPAYA BAPTISM: starts at 5 PM until 9:30 PM

Embedded in the heart of Huni Kuin culture, the Hãpaya Baptism is a ritual, and stands as a deeply sacred practice to open your voice and enhance communication.

The baptism is opened by specific prayers, traditional chants, and the application of bird pepper (yutxi). This mixture is delicately administered to your tongue.

This initiation is a gateway to "open the song" and "ignite the memory" of the chanters, giving them the ability to carry the sounds of the forest, its prayers, and spirits. The Hãpaya ceremony primarily focuses on unblocking the throat chakra, which enhances communication and expression.

Following the consecration of Hãpaya, it is of key importance to sing and open your voice to strengthen the power of this medicine. It's important to follow a strict diet for minimum one day, consisting of no sugar, no salt, no meat and no sex. More will be shared on the day.

If you are taking part in this ritual, it is very important you also stay for the hapé and singing circle to strengthen the power of this baptism to open your voice.

HAPÉ & SINGING CIRCLE: starts at 7 PM until 21:30 PM

Representing the female Mawa Isa Keneya group from Pinuya village, this evening will bathe you in the strong vibrations of the moving voices of some of the most powerful female txanás (people who carry the sacred chants and prayers) of the Huni Kuin people.

The sacred medicine of hapé (tobacco snuff) will be shared to help ground you, as well as help you clear from any physical, spiritual or mental blocks. Hapé is a fine powder made from tobacco combined with a mixture of tree bark, herbs, and other medicinal plants. The sacred medicine of hapé (tobacco snuff) will be shared to help support ground you, as well as help you clear from any physical, spiritual or mental blocks. The receiving of this medicine is not compulsory.

This is a unique opportunity to receive hapé and be moved by the prayers of the female force. Samia Biruany, Yaka Banu and Samara, three Huni Kuin feminine healers who are joining us directly from the Brazilian Amazon. Consecrating medicines that originate directly from the ancestral source of nature is a transformative experience.
