Members of the public are welcome to attend a 'Meet the Artist' evening event with Summerside artist, Elise Marie Arsenault Bowness.Arsenault Bowness' exhibit, 'Bloomers and Bygones' opened earlier in February as part of Culture Summerside's ’Sixty Days of Fame’ exhibit series, which provides professional and amateur artists with gallery space to exhibit their work in a professional setting over a two-month period. The initiative also brings awareness about opportunities for community members to engage with the arts in Summerside.
Arsenault Bowness shares that “This collection portrays the bliss, beauty and joy of life whilst making space for the quiet reflection of life's ups and downs respectively.”
Arsenault Bowness’ current artwork uses acrylic paint, and her love of seascapes, landscapes, and nature's elements have shaped her work. The textures and lush colors of the "works of the greats" have inspired her love of the Visual Arts and her translation of the natural world through her eyes, heart and spirit.
The Sixty Days of Fame ‘Bloomer and Bygones’ exhibit can be viewed Tuesday – Saturday from 10 am – 4 pm at the MacNaught History Centre and Archives, located at 75 Spring Street in Summerside. Admission is pay-what-you-can. Accessible entrance is available.
The ‘Meet the Artist’ reception will be held on Tuesday, February 17th from 6 – 7:30 pm at MacNaught, where members of the public are invited to drop in to view the exhibit and chat with the artist.
