Here I was alone in Toronto, in February, again. I caught a streetcar on Queen that paused briefly in front of my favourite bookstore. That’s when I saw him, as if a ghost from my past appearing before my eyes. He was in the window, wearing a wrinkled apron and a fitted white tee, lifting a stack of books, replacing the display. My stomach flipped, "it can’t be him I thought." I ran out of the streetcar doors intent on making sure he was real and not my wishful imagination...
