More than a networking event! Meet one another, ask questions you've always wanted to ask others doing similar good work, find connection!
About this Event

Community Development Learning Initiative invites the people of grassroots organizations or community initiatives to:

1) Meet others doing good work.
2) Learn about what supports there might be for the work you are doing.
3) Submit a question in advance that you have been wondering about - or join in on discussion of someone else's question.

Join us in person for a facilitated evening which will blend components of networking and community of practice together. Don't know what networking or a community or practice are? Feel free to email us with questions or come to see it in action, no prior knowledge is necessary. You can find some more details below.

A light meal will be provided. Due to this we ask you to register for each person who will attend, and if possible, let us know if you can't make it.

This event is being held at Vivo for Healthier Generations on the main floor and directions within the building will be sent to those who register.
Gender neutral washrooms are in close proximity to the room being used.
Vivo is two blocks walking on sidewalks and marked cross walks from the North Point bus terminal.

What is a Grassroots Organization?
There are many definitions. For our purposes at this event grassroots organizations includes any organization that feels they operate at a grassroots level. This might include (but doesn't have to):
- largely volunteer organized
- embeded in community working in
- just getting going or doing some growing

What is a Community Initiative?
For our purposes at this event a community initiative refers to a group of people doing work in community without having registered as an organization or non-profit. Groups may or may not use a board or committee format. A community initiaitve may be supported by a non-profit, church or organization or may be done at kitchen tables with individuals coming together to do what they can.

What is a community of practice (COP)?
CDLI hosts our community of practice by inviting a group of people with common interests to come together. Each person has the option to ask a question they could use some support or attend to see what others have asked or have to say. People get to choose which question/conversation they want to be a part of in the moment.

Once people have sent in their questions CDLI will look to bring resources or conversation hosts that can help keep the conversation going.
