Synopsis:
Eleven year old Brandon likes to cause trouble and pick on kids smaller than him. He lives at home with his annoying teenage sister and single mother who works all the time and it makes him very upset that she doesn’t have time for him. Everyone including Brandon’s friends and teachers are unable to stop Brandon’s misbehaving until Nina No More and her best friend Destiny come to the rescue and teach Brandon how to change his ways with the use of Nina’s “BEGIN” program that she learned from her mom.
The Begin program stands for Believe in yourself, Empower, Get up and make good things happen, Initiate and ask for help, and Never give up! These self-help tools teach Brandon that there are better ways to handle his frustrations and that bullying only hurts others. By the end of the book, Brandon is no longer bullying others and is happy to not be a bully anymore, but will it last?
The book consists of 40 pages including colorful illustrations to appeal to young readers. It is educational in that it teaches young children between the ages of four and thirteen how to deal with bullying.
Author Bio:
Phyllis Brooks is the author of Let Me Be Your Coach, Brandon the Bully Meets Nina-No More, and currently working on “BEGIN” Turn Your Goals Into Gold. Phyllis writes for children of all ages and adults to inspire and empower them to reach their goals. Her day job is a Regional/National Account Manager for McKesson which distributes medical devices and provides health information technology, medical supplies and care management tools. She is also a licensed Speech Language Pathologist. She received her bachelor degree in English from Columbia College and her master of arts in Speech Language Pathology from SC State University. She is a SC native however has resided in Charlotte NC for the past twenty one years. She is increasing her presence in the realm of Motivational Speaking. She has spoken to hundreds of kids, teachers and adults to extend her message of follow your passion and stay motivated to achieve your dreams based on her BEGIN program, Believe, Empower, Goals, Initiate, and Never Give Up. She has been a featured guest on her local Foxx News television show, numerous radio shows and cover model for local magazine as a fashion influencer. Her resume also consists of modeling and acting and she has performed in several local television commercials and plays. Her additional passions to writing and motivating others include, fitness, traveling, and spending time with her daughter. She is a member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, Biltmore Who’s Who of America, National Association of Professional Women, Women Who Care Coalition, and National Association of Strength and Conditioning for Fitness.
