About this Event
Months after Hurricane Helene devastated Western North Carolina, the spotlight may have moved on, but your grief hasn't – and we haven't forgotten you. Join us for this special Meet & Grieve dedicated to first responders, frontline workers, mental health practitioners, and all those who have supported our communities through the impact of the storm and its aftermath. We want to support YOU!
What's a Meet & Grieve? It's pretty simple: we get together and talk about grief without it being weird. No clinical support group vibes, no forced sharing circles – just real people having real conversations about the hard stuff. Grief isn't always pretty, and we don't pretend it is.
Hosted by Rebecca Feinglos, North Carolina native and founder of Durham-based Grieve Leave, at New Belgium Brewing's Riverview Deck. Rebecca founded Grieve Leave after experiencing the deaths of both her parents and going through divorce all by age 31. She knows firsthand that traditional grief support often falls short, which is why she's created spaces that feel more genuine and relevant. This judgment-free gathering offers a chance to connect with others who understand that being "Asheville Strong" doesn't mean you can't be grieving, too. Whether you're mourning lost homes, disrupted communities, overwhelming workloads, or the weight of helping others through trauma while managing your own, this space is for you.
The first 25 attendees will receive a complimentary drink, and local food trucks Grush’s Cajun Dino Grill and French Broad Pantry will be on-site. Come as you are – whether you're ready to share your story, prefer to simply listen, or just need to be in a space where others understand. There's no pressure to speak, no expectations to meet. This is your space to use in whatever way brings you comfort.
