WHAT IS GLOW?
Premiering in 1986, G.L.O.W. (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling), the female wrestling series, was watched by millions of viewers.
The original series ran from 1986 to 1989 at the height of the '80s televised wrestling craze. The theatrical series added to the wrestling drama on the mat and in the ring with back stories and behind-the-scenes beef between the women — which is pretty similar to what we see with wrestling today. The original GLOW not only inspired the Netflix series, but also a 2012 documentary, GLOW: The Story of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling.
