Whilst there are many different methods of meditation, it is not an activity that requires specialist equipment, or difficult posture. Historically meditation has taken place in lotus or kneeling positions, however sitting on a chair can also support meditative practice that is just as effective.
Barbara Starns (BA (Hons), MA) completed her Meditation Teacher Training with the British Society of Meditation, with distinction after extensive research into practices she encountered when traveling across Australia, Indonesia and Thailand and when working the Buddhist community in the UK. She teaches meditation from a non-religious secular base, using scientific research evidence as the foundation for her meditation programmes. Building on the research of psychologists and neuroscientists such as Ellen Langar, Professor of Psychology, Harvard University, Dr David Hamilton, Dr Sarah Lazaar, Neuroscientist Harvard University, and Jon Kabat-Zinn, Emeritus Professor of Medicine University of Massachusetts Medical School to name a few.
