About this Event
As I'm approaching the end of my meditation instructor training I wanted to start offering an ongoing series of talks on mindfulness and guided meditations. This will be the second in an ongoing series of meditations on the beach. The topic of this session will be the Three Jewels. Though these concepts come from traditional Buddhist teaching I'd like to suggest that they are relevant to anyone looking to find growth and healing throught the practice of meditation. The Three Jewels are the buddha, dharma, and sangha or could alternatively be considered the path, truth, and community.
All levels of experience are welcome; from first time meditatiors to seasoned practitioners and anywhere in between.
Suggested donation is $10 but no one will be turned away due to lack of funds.
Plan ahead for parking and arriving promptly as the first meditation will start right at 10:00 AM.
Suggested parking is on the beach parking lot adjacent to the location. Hourly and daily parking is available. There is often a line to get into the Santa Monica beach parking lot so allow for more time for parking.
Once you arrive on the beach head towards lifeguard tower 28 and you will see chairs set up. I recommend bringing a yoga mat or beach blanket and meditation cushion if you own one. Please be prepared with sunscreen and water as well.
There will be time to socialize and ask any follow up questions at the end of the event.
About Me:
I've been practicing meditation for over ten years and have led numerous group meditations during that time. Most of my meditation experience comes from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition with pieces of many other teachers and traditions sprinkled in. I love to share science supported mindfulness practices. It's important to me to offer a balanced perspective between the spiritual traditions and what modern science has led us to discover about the mind and the practice of meditation.
