Just sitting is a way of understanding yourself and your relationship with the world.
A daily rhythm of Zen meditation, known as Zazen, is generous in that it gives you a way to respond to life from a deeper understanding of who you are. You find out for yourself what it means to lovingly settle into yourself, fully awake.
Everyone can practice the generous mind of Zen. A man with physical limitations can lie down for meditation. A woman filled with anxiety can walk slowly and mindfully, stepping fully into herself. A young person can place their hands on their heart to tap into gentle awareness.
A daily rhythm of meditation fosters a slow intimacy with the presence of your own heart. Practically, this feels like a quiet pause of basic sanity.
When the world appears to be on fire, Zen points to grounding and love. The attitude of Zen is to trust the naturalness of life, not to be anything more or less than who you are.
