🧘💗 MEDITATE AND CREATE: Find your Zen moment at Peace River Botanical and Sculpture Gardens!Step into the intersection of art, meditation, and nature with a REFLECTIVE experience guided by meditation teacher Laurie Lyons. this immersive workshop offers a unique way to connect with the ORIGAMI IN THE GARDEN exhibit at the gardens. In our daily lives, it’s easy to become disconnected and forget how intimately linked we are with nature. Meditation can help us reconnect and experience ourselves as alive and awake expressions of nature. Our time will include guided meditation, walking meditation that takes us through The Gardens, and time to respond to the exhibit creatively with haiku poetry, drawing, watercolors, and origami. Live shakuhachi flute music offered by Adam Wells will provide a meditative soundscape.
All are welcome! No previous experience with art, poetry, or meditation required. All supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your art supplies if you like.

MEET YOUR TEACHER:
In 2010, Laurie formally took Zen Buddhist vows and went on to receive authorization to teach Zen (called Dharma Transmission) in 2018. Her work teaching meditation has brought her to classrooms, rehabilitation centers, churches, museums, and campgrounds. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music performance. She worked as an orchestral musician, performing as a percussionist with the Naples Philharmonic for over 20 years, and now works as a piano teacher. Laurie is training to become a certified professional organizer using the Konmari Method as taught by Marie Kondo. She also enjoys writing and frequently shares Zen stories and teachings for free on Substack.
At the heart of her varied professional and personal endeavors is a commitment to inspire people to get in touch with the contemplative side of life.
