The Medicine Hat Tigers will have the first overall pick at this yearโs WHL Prospects Draft on May 19. The WHL held its draft lottery last Thursday with the Tigers, Regina Pats, Swift Current Broncos, Calgary Hitmen, Victoria Royals and Tri-City Americans vying for the top six picks in the draft. Each non-playoff team retains their first round pick, but winning the lottery could move a team up a maximum of two positions. Medicine Hat, Tri-City and Victoria were the only teams that could have moved into the number one position.
