The drum is one of the oldest instruments, second only to the voice have been a major part cultures for thousands of year. The drumbeat has the power to lead us into song, dance, and into journeys through the worlds. Shamanic drumming refers to the use of sustained, repetitive drumming rhythms that have a number of psychological effects on the body. These sustained rhythms act as sonic drivers, creating a shift in your brain rhythms from a busy Beta state to a trance like Theta state, optimal for a meditative journey.
A drum is a must-have for everyone because drumming allows for self-expression, deeper self-awareness, is good for your health, brings communities together, accessible, assists spiritual growth and insight, and lastly its Fun!
So what's stopping you getting together and drumming those sacred rhythms?
Having your own drum perhaps?
Join us for this hands on, interactive, community building experienttial workshop to make your very own drum that will support your healing, take you on breathtaking journeys and share with you a connection and oneness with all. To birth your own drum is a truly rewarding experience; putting your love, intent and energy into this powerful medicine tool will make a truly special drum for you indeed.
In this workshop, you will birth your own drum in a day of ceremony, honoring the spirits of the animal and the tree. We make our drums in the traditional way using lacing cut from the same hide, thus keeping the spirit of the animal (Buffalo) within the drum. When you have birthed your drum, you will be led on a journey to connect with the spirit of your drum.
Your drum will be made with an 18" Steam bent Willow Wood hand drum frame & Buffalo Hyde all ethically sourced. You will be shown how to do the lacing, make the handle and handmake a drum beater.
What to bring:
Large towel to wrap your finished drum in.
If you would like to place a crystal in the handle of your drum, something flat about the size of a dime is ideal.
Workshop Timing:
We aim to start the workshop right at 4pm with an opening ceremony, so please plan to arrive early as we will have the doors open by 3:30pm. Our intention is to not rush people in making their drums and the 7pm end time is just a guide.
*Dinner will be provided and will eat together once drums are completed to celebrate in CommUNITY!
Energy Exchange:
Members - $222
Guests / Non-Members - $255
*Payment required to hold your spot, if payment plan is needed please contact Alexis ([email protected]) to discuss options.
