The Exact Opposite is the new project of Jamie Stuart and Nigel Powell, previously together in Oxford indie legends Dive Dive, and apart in Unbelievable Truth, Dustball, The Sad Song Co. and Frank Turner And The Sleeping Souls. It combines Dive Dive's spiky Gang Of Four/Idlewild/Fugazi alternative bite with... kinda disco? A little bit of Madonna maybe? Is that Earth Wind And Fire in the background playing 'Boogie Wonderland'? A combination that perhaps shouldn't work, but really does.
Debut album Skill Issue was released in 2024 - "time-honoured riff, blistering guitar and neat vocal harmonies" (OMS Magazine), "The Exact Thing our scene will always need" (Nightshift Magazine) - and the new album is on the way in 2025

Mystery Biscuit are a neo-psych quartet based in Oxford, with members hailing from Poland, Italy, Malta and the UK. Their sound is built around motorik rhythms, Sonic Youth-style dissonances and spacey synths, with vocals handled either by old-timey radio samples or singer Thom’s voice drenched in cavernous reverb.
You Will Like Them If You Like: shoegaze with grunge bits and psych freakouts. Live, one can expect overindulgent use of delay pedals, surprisingly hummable melodies and Columbo-based jokes; their two EPs are available now on Bandcamp (as well as the other morally questionable streaming services).
