How do we capture the impact of non-formal learning to satisfy funders, endorse the provision & enable learners to perceive their progress
About this Event

This event is jointly organised by FALNI and AONTAS.

Non-formal learning attracts many thousands of adult learners every year. For some, it is their first step back into learning since leaving school and can start a journey that then progresses into acquiring qualifications. For others, non-formal learning is sufficient to meet their aspirations and progression can be expanding their knowledge and skills in their chosen subject or moving from one subject area to another. In both instances the learning has many positive benefits.

A challenge for learning providers is how best to capture the impacts of the learning in ways that can satisfy both the funder and the learner.

Through this event FALNI and AONTAS want to support exploration of current practice and options for future development, helped by speaker inputs and peer sharing.

Speakers

Alex Stevenson (Deputy Director of the Learning & Work Institute) will speak on research carried out by himself and colleagues into measuring the outcomes of non-accredited learning.

Joe Collins (Director of FET, Education & Training Boards Ireland) - will speak on recent research into the wider benefits of learning.

Celine McStravick (CEO NICVA) will speak of the local context and the experiences of the VCSE sector in terms of impact measurement.

Participants will have opportunities to pose questions to our speakers and to engage with one another in round-table discussions.
