Registration Deadline: 1/22/25
Description:
This two-week workshop is perfect for beginners and those who are already familiar with polymer clay. No prior experience with the medium is needed!
Day one: 1/25/25
Julia will introduce you to the basics of working with Super Sculpey Polymer Clay, sharing tips and tricks to achieve specific effects and techniques. You’ll begin sculpting your ‘mealy mutations’ while Julia supplies you with accessories to help bring your creations to life. Whether you sculpt a food-like monster, or a cute food inspired art piece, Julia will guide you through your creative process to make a mutation that is unique to you! Once you’re satisfied with your creation, Julia will take them home to bake and be ready for the next class.
Day two: 2/1/25
Once you receive your baked mutations, it’s time to paint! Julia will guide you through how to make your mutation unique as you add paint, texture, and personality to your piece. By the end of this workshop, you’ll take home your finished projects to enjoy and display!
Julia encourages you to remember that perfection isn’t always the right direction. The ultimate goal for this class is to have fun, create something unique, silly, and maybe even just a little scary! There are no rules to making mealy-mutations. All you need is your imagination and the will to create!
Please note: If you would like to request a specific food can, please email Julia at [email protected]
as soon as possible so she can do her best to accommodate and/or inform you if your request is compatible with the specific project.
All cans will be provided.
Biography:
Julia is a self taught artist from right here in Corpus Christi, TX. Her artistic journey began as soon as she was able to hold a crayon!
For most of her childhood into her teen years, drawing was her main skill but over the years her love for art eventually led her to work with various other mediums such as: Paint, special effects makeup, digital designs, photography & even music. It wasn’t until late 2021 that she tried her hand at clay and instantly something sparked!
Julia now works as a full time sculptor and dreams of one day opening her own public studio. When Julia is not sculpting, she enjoys playing piano, listening to music, reading, & going to the movies.
