This two-day, interactive course provides a comprehensive dive into the Minimum Data Set (MDS) and Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process. Attendees will explore section-by-section coding, data collection strategies, and interdisciplinary documentation practices essential to person-centered care. With hands-on workshops, case studies, and live Q&A sessions, participants will enhance their skills in Quality Measures management, PDPM optimization, and compliance documentation. Designed for beginner to intermediate MDS professionals, this course equips attendees with the knowledge and confidence to strengthen facility outcomes through coding precision and clinical excellence. Participants may register for both days or may choose one day.
Virtual Attendance Option: In-person attendance is preferred for this event. However, for those who live more than 3 hours from Lincoln, there will be a virtual option available. Virtual attendees will indicate their preference when registering and will receive the connection link prior to the event. Attendance will be taken regularly for virtual attendees. All CEs are available for virtual attendees, including nursing contact hours.
Audience: Post-acute healthcare professionals and staff, including any staff member responsible for completion of any part of the MDS, including nursing, dietary, activities, social services, and medical records. Administrators will find the information provided in this class useful for understanding the impact of the MDS on facility systems and processes and well as impact on quality measures and star ratings.
Continuing Education: 14 hours of continuing education from Nebraska DHHS Regulation and Licensure, Board of NHA has been approved for this on-line event. Appropriate records will be maintained for other disciplines to receive credit from their credentialing organizations. 14 nursing contact hours for all nurses, provided by IWCC, Iowa’s Board of Nursing Provider #6. Approval pending. Attendance will be taken in the Zoom meetings for virtual attendees.
